Meraki Spaces is San Diego’s first community-led coworking and creative studio. Located in the historic Dunaway Building in Pacific Beach, we’re a space for artists, entrepreneurs, and remote workers to gather, build, and grow.
We exist to empower local creatives, artists, and entrepreneurs by offering access to beautiful, functional space, connection-driven programming, and a growing network of support.
Located in Pacific Beach, our space reinvests directly into the neighborhood through free events, scholarship programs, and small business support.
meet the founders
Founded in December 2024 by Melissa Medina, Darbe Canady and Kahla Lauinger, Meraki Spaces was born from a desire to create a vibrant, inclusive space where creativity and community intersect.
Meraki Art Foundation
Meraki Art Foundation is a San Diego–based nonprofit located in Pacific Beach dedicated to empowering local artists, underrepresented creatives, and emerging entrepreneurs through accessible creative resources, mentorship, and community-driven programming. Located in the historic Dunaway Building in Pacific Beach, we offer scholarship-based memberships, free and low-cost art workshops, internship opportunities, and monthly zero-commission artist markets. Our mission is to make creativity more equitable and sustainable for all.
Scholarship Memberships
Each quarter, Meraki offers fully sponsored memberships to creatives who need support. These 3-month scholarships include full access to the space and community.
Zero-Commission Artist Gallery
Our entire building at Meraki Spaces serves as an Art Gallery for our members to showcase their work & keep 100% of their earnings. Members also receive discounted vendor rates at Meraki In-House Markets to make selling more accessible.
Commitment to Equity
We intentionally reinvest profits into supporting underrepresented creatives and maintaining affordable programming.
Internship Opportunity
Meraki Spaces hosts a for-credit internship program for local high school and university students, offering hands-on experience in creative business operations, event production, and digital media. Interns receive mentorship from our founders and the opportunity to build real-world skills in a vibrant, entrepreneurial environment.

Meraki offers four distinct rooms designed to support a wide range of creative and professional work. A sanctuary for artists, creatives, and visionaries. With over 1,000 sq. ft. of thoughtfully designed office and creative space, our members are empowered to bring their ideas to life, collaborate with purpose, and stay inspired every step of the way.
